SEL Chicago and Chicago Public School's Office of Family and Community Engagement in Education are collaborating this summer to provide training for CPS Parents to become Certified Parent Educators in Positive Discipline. Applications will be prioritized to create equitable representation across all CPS Networks.
Training will take place at Ogden Elementary School, 24 West Walton Street, Chicago, IL 60610. Free parking is available in the school's underground garage. Ogden is also accessible via the CTA Red Line, and is two blocks from the Chicago stop. Additional public transportation options may be found www.transitchicago.com.
Training will be August 5, 6, & 7 from 9:00am to 2:00pm, with lunch provided. Complete attendance for all three days required to receive certification. Participation in this course is limited to 30 parents and/or guardians of currently registered Chicago Public School students.

Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups.
Facilitated by CPS parent and Certified Positive Discipline Trainer Kristin Hovious, this course emphasizes experiential activities that reach both head and heart to inspire deeper understanding of brain science of relationsihps and authoritative family leadership.
Participants will earn certification as Positive Discipline Parent Educators and learn to faciliate conversations with other parents and families as a fun and effective way for them to get specific help with real challenges. Participants will:
Participation is limited to parents and guardians of currently enrolled Chicago Public School Students. Complete attendance to all three sessions required for certifcation.
